Star Wars Celebration is a place where fans of all ages can come together for a common purpose, their love of Star Wars. This year, at Celebration Orlando, Star Wars: Force for Change had a massive 40×20’ footprint on the show floor. The booth was split up between Starlight Children’s Foundation (our newly-announced charitable beneficiary), and UNICEF Kid Power (our main beneficiary to-date).
Starlight Children’s Foundation
On the Starlight Children’s Foundation side of the booth, fans were able to “Meet BB-8” through a Starlight VR demo sponsored by ILMxLAB. Thousands of Star Wars fans visited their booth, and over 450 fans got the opportunity to experience the joy of Starlight VR, which eventually will be distributed to children’s hospitals across the U.S. You can learn more about our new collaboration and Starlight VR here.
Fans were also introduced to Star Wars-themed Starlight Brave Gowns, a comfortable and brightly colored alternative to old, uncomfortable kids’ hospital gowns. Starlight Brave Gowns are designed to bring joy and comfort to hospitalized kids while transforming them into their favorite Star Wars character, including Princess Leia, Darth Vader, R2D2, Chewbacca and more.
UNICEF Kid Power
Star Wars fans of all ages stopped by the UNICEF side of the booth to learn about UNICEF Kid Power, the activity tracker that saves lives.
To celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Star Wars, UNICEF Kid Power featured a limited edition 40th Anniversary Kid Power Band. Kids dressed as their favorite Star Wars characters tried on the band and participated in a Star Wars-inspired workout led by Ashley Eckstein, voice of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars Rebels.
Over the 4-days, over 200 40th Anniversary Bands were sold and Star Wars fans who participated in the activity took over 1 million steps to unlock lifesaving nutrition.
UNICEF Kid Power activates inner heroes, giving them the power to end global malnutrition and save lives, one step at a time. With the UNICEF Kid Power Band, and physical activity as their currency, kids unlock lifesaving packets of therapeutic foods for their peers around the world.
