Lucasfilm Employees become Forces for Change as they Volunteer for Earth Month

To show their support during Earth Month, Lucasfilm employees volunteered around the San Francisco Bay Area to do their part in preserving the environment. Employees were joined by members of the community to clean up two of the most popular beaches in the area, Ocean Beach and Stinson Beach, where everyone enjoyed some time in the sun and even won prizes for the most interesting items found during the beach clean-up.

In addition to the rest of the Disney family, Lucasfilm also held a company-wide mobile device recycling drive during the month. The mining of certain minerals for cell phones and other mobile devices leads to significant habitat destruction for wildlife, like great apes. Recycling old cell phones and reusing the essential minerals goes a long way towards habitat preservation. Become a Force for Change and search online for your own local e-waste recycling service to continue these efforts throughout the year in your own communities!

On the last day of Earth Month, members of local ABC station, KGO-TV channel 7, came out to show their support and joined Lucasfilm for a field restoration project in the Presidio of San Francisco. This beautiful park is also home to Lucasfilm’s Bay Area headquarters.

Here’s to being a Force for Change for Mother Nature!
