As many people are aware, Ashley Eckstein has a long history with the Star Wars Brand. She started her voicing career in the role of Ahsoka Tano on Star Wars: The Clone Wars in 2008 and later reprised the role of Ahsoka in Star Wars Rebels. Ahsoka was the padawan apprentice of Anakin Skywalker. She is a central protagonist of both series and plays an irreplaceable role. Ahsoka, much like the person who voices her, is a strong independent woman who is a key character in the Star Wars franchise.

Star Wars is a story of hope, and a story of good overcoming evil, and I thought, this story means so much to so many people around the world, if I’m given this platform I want to do something positive with it,” says Eckstein.

Aside from being a voice actress, she wanted to combine her love for Star Wars and fashion to make an even bigger impact on the Star Wars community.

In 2009, Eckstein started Her Universe with the mission to create stylish, fashion-forward merchandise for female sci-fi fans. She was frustrated that there was very little sci-fi merchandise for women – so she decided to change the status quo. Her Universe is a place for fangirls to step into the spotlight and be heard, recognized, and rewarded.

“It was important to me to create a safe community where girls could express their love for Star Wars, and all sci-fi franchises, without feeling judged” says Eckstein.

She has been an inspiration to women everywhere and shows that science fiction and fantasy is not just “for the boys”.

Aside from founding, managing, and designing clothes for an extremely successful merchandise brand, she is also active in the fan community, as well as highlights “Fangirls of the day” to recognize and encourage fangirls to be themselves.

Most recently, Ashley was featured in a new Star Wars: Force for Change Mission on the UNICEF Kid Power app. With the UNICEF Kid Power Band, kids go on Missions to learn about new cultures and earn points. Points unlock funding from partners, parents, and fans, and funds are used by UNICEF to deliver lifesaving packets of therapeutic food to severely malnourished children around the world. The more kids move, the more points they earn and the more lives they save. The app is available for Apple & Android products through the iTunes store and Google Play.

May 22nd, when the new Star Wars: Force for Change Mission launched, saw the highest number of points ever earned by the UNICEF Kid Power Team in one day. Special Star Wars: Force for Change green bands also became available that day. These are in addition to the classic blue and orange UNICEF Kid Power bands and the Star Wars: Force for Change black band — all available at and in every Target store from coast to coast.

From playing a Jedi to leading kids everywhere on a Mission to get active, Ashley is a true Force for Change that is making a positive impact on the world around her.
