Boston is one of the first cities to have the UNICEF Kid Power program. In March, students received a Kid Power band which monitored their fitness and as they hit their activity goals, they learned that it triggered a donation of food to a severely malnourished child. During March’s Kid Power month, over 4,500 students in the Boston area participated and collectively earned 48,931 packets of therapeutic food for children around the world. On May the Fourth, U.S. Fund for UNICEF proudly recognized three of Boston’s most active and lifesaving classrooms by taking them to a Boston Red Sox game. The kids were treated to a meet and greet with David Ortiz and also met up with Chewbacca!
